Medicare Physiotherapy in Sinnamon Park

Physiotherapy can be covered by Medicare under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) (formerly Enhanced Primary Care or EPC). The Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) enables GPs to plan and coordinate the health care of patients with chronic or terminal medical conditions. These patients require multidisciplinary, team-based care from a GP and at least two other health or care providers.

Is Physiotherapy covered by Medicare?

Yes! Your physio sessions can be partially funded by Medicare but you need to meet special requirements:

  • you must have a chronic medical condition (meaning something that you have suffered with for a longer period of time)
  • you need to have the appropriate referral from your GP, who needs to send you to a specific physiotherapy clinic (please provide Vitalis Physiotherapy details if you wish to be treated by our experienced physiotherapists)

Please note that your eligibility is up to your GP’s clinical judgement, taking into account your medical condition and care needs.

What is a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM)?

Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM), also known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC) or Team Care Arrangement (TCA) is an initiative provided by Medicare. The Government provides funding for up to 5 sessions per calendar year. The program is designed for patients who suffer from a chronic condition and your GP will determine whether a plan is appropriate for you.

How many physio treatments are covered under Medicare?

The Medicare rebate covers up to five (5) physio treatment sessions per calendar year. It is up to the discretion of your GP how many sessions will be allocated for you.

Services which can be covered under EPC Plan also include: physiotherapy, speech pathology, psychology, dietetics, podiatry, etc.

How much is the Medicare Rebate for physio?

The rebate is set by Medicare and changes from time to time, so we publish the current amount in one place only — our pricing page.

The rebate applies to your initial consultation and to any subsequent consults you are recommended for, up to 5 sessions in total.

How do I claim the Medicare Rebate?

We will claim the Medicare rebate online on your behalf at the time of your appointment.

What you need to do is:

  1. Pay the full fee at the time of your appointment via Debit/Credit Card.
  2. We will process the claim on your behalf and the benefit is paid into your Medicare nominated bank account within 24-48hrs.

How to book an appointment?

All you need to do is just give us a call on 0410 559 856 and request an initial appointment. Please let our friendly reception staff know that you have a CDM / EPC referral from your GP.

We will require you to bring with you to your initial appointment:

  1. Referral from your GP (can be emailed, or faxed to us)
  2. Valid Medicare Card
  3. Any relevant and recent scans/reports of your area of injury
