Physiotherapy assessment and treatment for tarsal tunnel syndrome treatment at our Sinnamon Park clinic.
The tarsal tunnel is a narrow space that lies on the inside of the ankle next to the ankle bones. It is covered with a thick ligament, the flexor retinaculum, to protect the structures within the tunnel.
The key structure in the tunnel that is implicated in TTS is the posterior tibial nerve which becomes compressed in this condition causing pain and inflammation. This condition can be seen in people of all ages but has a higher prevalence in women.
Symptoms are typically felt anywhere on the inside of the ankle and/or on the bottom of the foot.
In severe, long-term cases, you may be recommended surgery or corticosteroid injections for tarsal tunnel release.
Non-surgical treatments may include:
Sinnamon Park Village, 3/58 Oldfield Road — ground floor, parking at the door. Patients come to us from across Brisbane’s western suburbs.
Can’t get to the clinic? We also offer home visits. Not sure this is what you have? See all conditions we treat.
